November 2005 What's New

In Musings we take aim once more at the project management process groups in Process Groups and the Profession - Part I and list the reasons why the labels should be abandoned once and for all. In Papers this month we review Quentin Fleming's excellent book Project Procurement Management, a valuable reference for all project management people. Our Guest, Harvey Levine, explains Why We Need Project Portfolio Management.

This month we've added an Issacon 1078a Project &Technology Strategies that distinguishes between project management and hi-tech management. We've also added a new section in the Job Description area of our site plan that is devoted to technology expertise in Admin, IS/IT and NewTech type projects. Not strictly project management per se, but closely aligned and of high interest in today's world. These are: 1290a Systems Analyst; 1290b Business Analyst; 1290c Methodology Specialist; 1290e Software Architect; 1290f Software Developer; 1290g Software Tester; 1295 Help Desk Specialist; 1296 Configuration Manager; 1297 Deployment Manager; 1298 Test Manager; 1299 Process Engineer. We've also updated 1060a Project
Management Road Map.
