September 2006 What's New
September 2006 - Part 2 of our Paper assessing PRINCE2, 2005 Edition covers some of the specific concepts, some of the downsides and our conclusions. In Musings we offer some tips on Taking over an Existing Project. Our Guest this month hails form Mumbai, India. Dr. Om Kharbanda, well-known to many, describes a particular project cost management challenge he faced and how he solved it by turning to Japanese cost practices and attitudes in Learning from Japan.

In his paper he draws a detailed comparison between PRINCE2 (2005) and PMBOK ® Guide (2004) by the Project Management Institute. June 2006 - In an insightful Guest paper, Brian Willard examines Project Success: Looking Beyond Traditional Project Metrics and explains that these metrics do not view success from the organization's perspective. Brian suggests better metrics. This month's Paper reviews Tom Kendrick's book: The Project Management Toolkit, a compendium of 100 "processes" frequently used in project management - a valuable how-to of tips and techniques. May 2006 What's New
May 2006 - In our Paper this month, we review Gary Chin's book: Agile Project Management. Gary makes an excellent case for the "agile" approach under particular project circumstances. Our Guest, Barry Schaeffer, explains the history of the protocol XML Markup and its Effect on Project Communications and its importance to the modern project manager. In Musings, we've tried to answer two questions raised by readers: Can a project manager manage a project remotely? and How much time should a project manager be allocating to a project?
