Max Wideman Joins PMF Global Advisory Panel
Max Wideman, FCSCE, FEIC, FICE, Fellow PMI, has agreed to become a global PM advisor for www.pmforum.org. A globally-recognized author, consultant and expert on the subject of project management (PM), Max is widely recognized as one of the world’s leading authorities on modern project and program management. The Wideman project management glossary is one of the most widely-referenced lexicons of PM terms and terminology in the world today.

Max Wideman has 40+ years of PM related experience, including hands-on experience as a corporate executive, project director and project manager, for a wide range of project types and clients. He has experienced and studied PM from the perspective of owner, developer, engineer, contractor and government agent, as well as reviewer and auditor. He is recognized internationally as a speaker and workshop leader and has presented seminars and papers on a variety of PM topics in many countries.

Max Wideman is a registered professional engineer specializing in project management consulting. He is a Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers (UK), a Fellow of the Engineering Institute of Canada, a Fellow of the Canadian Society of Civil Engineers, a Fellow of the Project Management Institute (PMI®) and a long-time member of the Institute of Management (UK).

Max was active in PMI for many years and was elected to the PMI Board of Directors as Vice President Member Services (1984), President (1987) and Chairman of the Board (1988). In the mid-1980's, he led a team of some eighty PMI volunteers from across North America to document the Project Management Body of Knowledge for the Institute. It was approved and published by PMI in 1987, but since superseded by A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge in 1996, 2000, and 2004. These publications have provided the basis for PMI's Project Management Professional certification program. PMI recognition has included the Distinguished Contribution Award (1985) and Person of the Year Award (1986).

Max Wideman is the author of two books for PMI, A Framework for Project and Program Integration (1991) and Project and Program Risk Management: A guide to Managing Project Risk and Opportunities (1992). He has contributed chapters to a number of other books, including “Project Risk Management” in Project Management Handbook (PMI/Jossey-Bass, 1998); “How to Motivate All Stakeholders to Work Together” in Field Guide to Project Management (Van Nostrand Reinhold, 1998, 2004) and “Professional and Personal Development Management: A Practical Approach to Education and Training” in Project Management for the Business Professional - A Comprehensive Guide (Wiley, 2001). His latest book is A Management Framework for Project, Program and Portfolio Integration. (Trafford Publishing, Victoria, BC, Canada, 2004)

In recent years, Max has been a frequent contributor to www.pmforum.org and to PM World Today.
