Russ Archibald Joins PMF Global Advisory Panel
Russell Archibald, PhD (Hon), PMP, PMI Fellow, has agreed to become a global PM advisor for www.pforum.org. A globally-recognized author, consultant and lecturer on project management, Russ has extensive experience on various programs and projects around the world.

Russell Archibald’s career spans more than 50 years of broad international experience in program and project management, as well as operations and engineering management. He has experienced three predominately project management related careers: Management Consultant (24 years, Archibald Associates; CPM Systems, Inc.; Booz, Allen & Hamilton), Corporate Executive (15 years, ITT Corp., Bendix Corp., EXXON/Creole Petroleum), and Military/Aerospace (12 years, USAF pilot-officer, Aerojet General Corp., Hughes Aircraft Corp.),.

He has consulted in 16 countries on 4 continents to large and small companies in construction, telecommunications, information technology, industrial, engineering, consumer product and service sectors, plus federal and local government agencies and international development banks. Russ is a Fellow and Certified Project Management Professional (PMP) of the Project Management Institute (PMI®) (member No. 6, one of the five original trustees), an Honorary Fellow of the Association of Project Management/APM-U.K./IPMA, and is listed in Who's Who in the World.

Russ Archibald is the author of the best selling book, Managing High Technology Programs and Projects, originally published in 1976 by John Wiley & Sons and now in its 2003 third edition (also published in Chinese, Italian, and Russian; previous editions published in Italian, Japanese, and Russian). Russ is also the co-author of Network Based Management Information Systems (PERT/CPM) (Wiley, 1967) (also published in Hungarian); plus many articles and papers presented at PMI and International Project Management Association (IPMA) meetings and conferences in North America, South America, and Europe. He holds Bachelor of Science (University of Missouri) and Master of Science (University of Texas, Austin) degrees in mechanical engineering. As a pioneer in the field, Russ received an honorary Ph.D. in strategy, program, and project management from the Ecole Superieure de Commerce de Lille (ESC-Lille) in Lille, France in August 2005.

In recent years, Dr. Archibald has been a frequent contributor to www.pmforum.org and to PM World Today. His recent writings have focused on the “State of the Art of Project Management”; a categorization system for projects, programs and project management; and “what CEO’s must demand to compete”.
