A 2nd Call for Papers has been issued by the University of Texas at Dallas (UTD) for the 1st UTD Project Management Symposium, to be held during
6-7 August 2007 in Plano, Texas, USA. The conference is being sponsored by the Graduate Program in Project Management in the School of Management’s Executive Education Center at UTD, in cooperation with the Dallas Chapter of the Project Management Institute (PMI®) and PMForum, Inc.
Executives, project management professionals, project managers, researchers and graduate students are invited to submit abstracts for proposed papers and presentations for the August 2007 PM Symposium.
According to Jim Joiner, Director of UTD’s graduate program in project management, “We have now formed a team at UTD for this conference, the facilities are reserved, and we’re starting to line up keynote speakers. This will be a good opportunity to have a positive impact on organizations and industries in North Texas, and to expand the presence and visibility of project management in this area.”
The 2 Day Project Management conference will focus on topics important to organizations, industries and the economy of North Texas. Proposed Tracks include the following:
Track 1 – PM for Nanotechnology & Semiconductor Development
Track 2 – Project, Program & Portfolio Management
Track 3 – Agile Project Management
Track 4 – PM for Medical & Healthcare Projects
Track 5 – Big PM: Management of large technology Projects
Track 6 – Micro PM: Management of smaller projects
Track 7 – The Role of PM for Corporate Governance (what executives, directors & shareholders should know)
Abstract GuidelinesAbstracts should be emailed to
jxa051000@utdallas.edu no later than 15 April 2007, with the following information:
- Title of paper, author and organizational affiliation
- Abstract of no more than 250 words
- Summary bio of author or co-authors
- Preferred track for the paper
Authors will receive a 40% discount and are expected to enroll, attend and present the paper in a formal presentation. Papers shall not have been previously published.
Both the PMI Dallas Chapter and the UTD’s executive education program in the school of management are registered education providers with the Project Management Institute (PMI®), so a significant number of Professional Development Units (PDUs) will be available for attendees and presenters.
The Symposium will be held at the Plano Center in Plano, Texas. Other Conference Features will include an Opening Ceremony with Keynote Speakers on Monday morning; a Monday evening reception for attendees, speakers and vendors; a Closing Panel of keynote speakers on “The Future of Project Management”; and a vendor exhibition for the entire two days. Registration fees are expected to be: full registration $399; early bird rate $350; early rate for PMI members and UTD students $300; paper presenters $240.
