The International Project Management Association (IPMA) has announced that the 21st World Congress on Project Management in Poland will include more excursions and tours than any previous World Congress. The 21st (2007) IPMA World Congress, which is being held in the historic city of Cracow in southern Poland during June 18-20, 2007, will include options for conference attendees and guests to participate in 14 excursions and tours.
Congress organizers are providing the following opportunities for visitors to Cracow to experience and enjoy the culture, history and magic of Poland.
15-16 June 2007 - Podhale Region Tour: Southern region of Poland is identified with rich and patriotic folklore. This area became an inspiration for poets and painters. Zakopane, called "the winter capital of Poland" is the centre of Polish Highlanders’ tradition, music and folk costumes. Gubałówka hill and Kasprowy mountains give a chance to admire the breathtaking landscapes of the Tatra Mountains.
18 June 2007 - The Royal Route: The Royal Route of Cracow begins on the Matejko Square and leads along Florianska street through the largest Market Square of medieval Europe, which is one of the most recognizable symbol of monumental Cracow. Almost all tenement houses and palaces situated on the Market Square are several hundred years old. Afterwards - Grodzka and Kanonicza street, which are also significant gems of antique Cracow. The route ends on the Hill where Wawel Castle is situated.
18 June 2007 - Natural Heritage of Cracow: Besides numerous antique monuments Cracow has many natural areas. Planty – Exceptional municipal garden surrounding the oldest part of the city, during every season attracts by green scenery and special atmosphere. The Botanic Garden – the oldest one in Poland is also one of the oldest in Europe and takes 9,8 ha. The large collection has 6,000 species, subspecies and types of plants.
19 June 2007 - Cracow of John Paul II: Cracow is the only city in the World with places related to almost the whole life of John Paul II. Visitors coming to Cracow can find many places to remember the Pope as a student of Polish philology, worker, actor, poet, seminarian, young priest, lecturer, bishop, metropolitan and finally as the Pope.

20 June 2007 - Benedictine Abbey Tour: The history of The Benedictine Abbey began in the XI century. The monastery and church are situated on a craggy rock by the Vistula River in the outskirts of Cracow. The Early-Romanesque church and monastery were surrounded by a curtain in the XIII century. The church was rebuilt in a Gothic style in XV century and afterwards in the spirit of the Baroque in the XVII and XVIII century. Nowadays in the Abbey live 40 monks, whose life is related with religious and cultural activities.
20 June 2007 - Kazimierz District Tour: During the exterminations of the Second World War, Nazis invaders expelled Jews from their territory. 20 June 2007 - Wawel Hill Tour: One of the most splendid Renaissance royal residences in Europe, Wawel Hill was the seat of Polish monarchs, place of royal coronations and necropolis. 21 June 2007 - Wieliczka Salt Mine: The Wieliczka Salt Mine is placed on the First World List of Cultural and Natural Heritage – UNESCO entertains over one million visitors every year. Lakes, traverses, caverns, chapels and the world’s biggest mining museum attract many visitors. St. Kinga’s chapel, the largest salt chapel in the world, invites by its unforgettable scenery. Significant is fact that this complex is the only salt mine in the world that has been functioning since the Middle Ages. Tourist route extends for 3.5 km, starting at the depth of 64 m and ending at 135 m below the earth surface. It’s a pride of southern Poland and an unforgettable experience.
21 June 2007 - Route of John Paul II: Cracow – the city where Karol Wojtyła experienced different moments of his life as a student, worker, actor, priest and finally as the Pope. Many places show proof of his exceptional and admirable life: The Wawel Cathedral – a place of frequent prayers, Stanislaw’s Kostka Church – the place of his first mass for believers, the Sanctuary of God Misericordia consecrated by the Pope in 2002 and many others.
22 June 2007 - Memorial and Museum Auschwitz – Birkenau: In the suburbs of Oświęcim during the Second World War Nazis created the biggest Concentration Camp. Auschwitz-Birkenau – necropolis, museum and commemorative monument became a meaningful symbol of terror, genocide and Holocaust. This place became the biggest extermination of mankind in history, where citizens of different races and creeds lost their lives.
22 June 2007 - Pieniny Mountains Tour: The Pieniny National Park is situated in the Pieniny Mountains in southern Poland. The National Park belongs to one of the most interesting monuments of nature in Poland. Numerous scenic places enable visitors to explore the most attractive peculiarities of nature and gems of cultural heritage. Picturesque scenery includes rocks, river and lush greenery; the most famous attraction is rafting on the Dunajec River.
21-22 June 2007 - Tour of Warsaw: Warsaw – the capital city of Poland, a main cultural and scientific centre with dynamic development, invites every year an increasing number of businessmen and tourists.
