PMI College of Performance Management to Provide Full Track on Earned Value at PMI GNO Professional Development Summit
The College of Performance Management (CoPM) of the Project Management Institute (PMI) is teaming with the PMI Greater New Orleans (PMI GNO) chapter to provide leading earned value management (EVM) experts for a full day of presentations at the PMI GNO Professional Development Summit (PDS) being held October 27-30, 2007 in New Orleans, LA. The PMI GNO chapter’s 2007 PDS is being held in conjunction with the LavaCon 2007 and will be one of the largest PM events in New Orleans in recent years.

On Tuesday, October 30, day three of the PDS, presentations in the EVM track will include the following experts and leaders from the CoPM:

Susan Wood – Introduction to EVM: Susan Wood is currently Vice President Conferences and Events for the PMI CoPM. Susan is recently retired as the EVM Focal Point for the Air Armament Center (AAC), Eglin AFB, Florida, where she was responsible for EVM policy, guidance, training and implementation support across all AAC programs. As a member of the U.S. Air Force (USAF) EV Integrated Product Team, Susan contributed to USAF EV policy and implementation guidelines. She has also served as the USAF Customer Representative on EV single process initiatives teams with Lockheed Martin and Raytheon. Susan has led and served on Contractor and “in-house” EVM System review teams, including USAF, Army, Navy and DoD support. Susan has developed and provided EV training to both program office and staff personnel. She has over 23 years acquisition experience, working both program offices and staff. She has a BS in Accounting from Troy State University and extensive additional professional education.

Eleanor Haupt – Introduction to EVM and Organizational EV Maturity Model: Ms. Haupt is immediate past president of the PMI CoPM. She is a Cost Analyst in the Acquisition Cost Division of the Comptroller at Aeronautical Systems Center (ASC), Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. She has over 21 years of acquisition experience working for the US Air Force (USAF), Navy and Army. Eleanor has broad practical experience with the application of EVM and has worked in both program and staff functions. Eleanor is the ASC focal point for policy development, guidance, and direction for the application of Earned Value Management. Eleanor serves on the USAF EV Integrated Product Team. Eleanor has developed numerous training materials and handbooks on EVMS basics, analysis, and preparation for baseline reviews, and has been a frequent speaker at conferences. She holds a Bachelor's degree from Capital University and has additional professional education at the postgraduate level.

Neil Albert- Advancing your Career with the PMI College of Performance Management: Mr. Albert is the current president of the PMI CoPM. He is also President and CEO of MCR, LLC a business specializing in cost/schedule analysis, acquisition management, and program assessment support. Mr. Albert directs and manages cost estimating, project management support, earned value management, contract management, software acquisition, logistics, and education and training in support of Government and industry customers. He has broad experience in electronics, transportation systems, information (software) systems, space and defense systems, energy, and environmental systems.

Neil has been at MCR for over 16 years and has held many positions including Director, Vice President, and Senior VP and General Manager. Previously, he was Director of Cost Estimating and Analysis at Textron Defense Systems. Mr. Albert holds an MBA in Financial Management and a B.B.A. in Finance/Economics from the George Washington University. He is a Certified Cost Estimator/Analyst and an active member of the Society of Cost Estimating and Analysis (SCEA) of which he was a founding member. He was SCEA National President during 1996 -2000. He is Vice Chair of PMI’s Aerospace and Defense Special Interest Group (SIG), and a long time member of the American Society of Military Controllers (ASMC) and PMI’s CoPM. In 2001, Mr. Albert was appointed by Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld to the Defense Business Board, a Federal Advisory Committee that provides senior management advice to the US Secretary of Defense on best practices in the private sector.

According to Ana Boudreaux, president of the PMI GNO chapter, "We are excited to have PMI’s College of Performance Management contribute so much to our PDS. Earned value is a critical element in every project manager’s tool box. We will have some real EVM experts in New Orleans this year to explain and teach this important approach."

The LavaCon/Project Management PDS will be held October 27-30 at the Astor Crowne Plaza Hotel in the French Quarter of New Orleans. The Summit will present best practices in the fields of technical communication and project management, as well as innovative techniques for meeting project management challenges.
