Reported by Miles Shepherd in London, UK

The Association for Project Management (APM) in the United Kingdom (UK) has announced that the 2007 Programme of the Year Award has been won by White Young Green for its tri-service Single Living Accommodation (SLAM) programme for armed forces for the UK’s Ministry of Defense (MoD). The award was presented at a glittering ceremony on Tuesday 30th October at The Brewery, Chiswell Street, London on the first evening of APM’s two-day national Project Management Conference. Representing White Young Green were Clive Anderson (on left in photo) and Peter Hughes (on right).

Introduced for the first time in 2006, APM’s Programme of the Year Award is given to the programme delivered within the UK and completed or successfully commissioned during the last year, whose outcomes and results exceeded or most closely secured its objectives. The Programme of the Year Award is presented for the most effective management of a programme of projects all aligned to a common goal, where some or all of the benefits can be shown to have been achieved during the last year. The focus is on the linkage with the organization's business strategy, effective management of the interdependencies between projects within the programme, and the way that resources have been allocated and reallocated between those projects so as to optimize benefit delivery.

Runners-up this year included the Metropolitan Police C3i Programme by Hitachi and the Marks & Spencer Refurbishment by Davis Langdon. This year’s APM Programme of the Year Award was sponsored by Program Framework.

For the past 14 years the APM Project Management Awards have been rewarding and celebrating project management successes, from the Eden Project to record breaking round the world voyages. The awards reflect the invaluable contribution project management and project managers make in all sections of society.

Individual winners receive an exclusive trophy (pictured) by British designer Nigel Cripps presented at the Awards dinner, a winner’s certificate, use of a winner’s logo, featured in publicity throughout the year, featured as a case study on the APM Awards website and in the APM Awards brochure.
