Reported by Jaycee Kruger in South AfricaProject Management South Africa (PMSA) cordially invites academics, practitioners and enthusiasts to submit a high-quality, original abstract followed later by a final paper for presentation at the PMSA International Conference 2008: From Strategy to Reality, to be held at Gallagher Estate in Gauteng (Johannesburg region), South Africa from 26 to 28 May 2008
The PMSA Conference takes place every second year. In 2008 project, programme and portfolio managers and those seeking to enter these professions are invited to attend and benefit from our tried and tested conference format, which includes three bumper conference days featuring invited plenary speakers and reviewed papers, one- and two-day hands-on workshops dedicated to enhancing specific project management skills, and an exhibition showcasing the latest products and offerings in the project management realm.
Broadly, the Conference streams and workshops will cover:
- Development projects
- Best practice processes and methodologies for project management
- Project management training and education
- Professional development
- Technology for project management
- Managing project requirements of different industry sectors
- Maintaining a customer focus in project management
- Tools, standards and methodologies for improved project management practices
Among the goals and objectives of the 2008 Conference are to:
- Promote knowledge sharing between delegates from different countries and backgrounds, with similar experiences
- Develop project management as a profession by providing a forum for debate and discussion
- Enable formal and informal networking between like-minded individuals, in the process promoting collaboration
- Address capacity development in project management and identify areas of concern
- Acknowledge the interdisciplinary nature of project management and identify best practice in the various industries in which it is practiced
- Equip workshop attendees with best-practice knowledge and skills that can immediately be applied on their projects
Important Dates:- 17 December 2007 - Deadline for submitting abstracts
- 7 January 2008 - Notification to authors of provisional consideration of a paper based upon the abstract
- 15 January 2008 - Notification of provisional programme
- 11 February 2008 - Deadline for the submission of DRAFT full papers
- 18 February 2008 - Draft papers to reviewers
- 24 March 2008 - Comments from reviewers back to authors
- 24 March 2008 - Notification of final programme
- 14 April 2008 - Published final submission date

Jaycee Krüger, PMP, PrTechEng, is an International Correspondent for PMForum and PM World Today in South Africa. He is also the Managing Director of the CMSS, trading as Construction Management Support Services. He has over 29 years of experience in project environments with increasing responsibility, on power, industrial and mining projects, including shutdowns and projects in remote locations.
