The 2008 PMI Dallas Chapter Board of Director elections were held at the chapter member meeting at the Crowne Plaza North Dallas Hotel in Addison, Texas on 8 November 2007.
Dwaraka Iyengar, PMP, (pictured) was re-elected president to serve for the next two years. Dwaraka has been serving as chapter president since
John Baley, PMP, resigned in order to assume the role of Region 6 Mentor for PMI.
Dwaraka has over 25 years of IT and Project Management consulting experience in the Government, Health, Housing, Insurance, Manufacturing, Finance, Retail Promotion and Transportation industries. Dwaraka is currently Director of the Technical Writing Practice at Innodata Isogen, a publicly traded Content Management Solutions consulting service organization in Dallas. He is also a part-time instructor at Collin County Community College District conducting Project Management Certificate courses.
Dwaraka manages offshore development projects in his current assignment and has also successfully done so in his previous two engagements for Fortune 500 transportation and retail promotion companies. Dwaraka was primarily responsible for implementing offshore projects and processes in those engagements. Prior to the offshore engagements, he served as an Engagement Manager for Syntel Inc., an outsourcing IT consulting company that consulted to FORD, AIG, Blue Cross Blue Shield among its clients.
Prior to coming to the United States in 1994, Dwaraka served as a Project Manager at various government departments in New Zealand and was also involved in consulting engagements with UNISYS Corp., Housing Corporation of New Zealand, AA Insurance (New Zealand) in various team leader, project management and practice management roles. He was also a team leader of the award winning SWIFTT (Social Welfare Information Today for Tomorrow) development team at the Department of Social Welfare in New Zealand.
Dwaraka received his PMP certification in 1998 and has served on the award winning PMI Dallas Chapter education committee since then. In addition to serving as President of the PMI Dallas Chapter, he is also a contributing volunteer on the PMI Scheduling Standards Committee.
In addition to Mr. Iyengar, the following PMI Dallas Chapter Board members were also elected to serve new 2 year terms beginning in 2008.
