Adesh Jain to address the Global Project Management Landscape at PMAJ Symposium in Tokyo
The Project Management Association of Japan (PMAJ) has announced that Adesh Jain, Chairman of the International Project Management Association (IPMA), will be a keynote speaker at the “International Project & Program Management Symposium Tokyo 2008 – In pursuit of organizational project management value.” The two-day symposium will be held in Tokyo, Japan during 10-11 March 2008.

Adesh Jain, one of the world’s best known project management authorities and professional leaders, will speak on the topic of the “Global Project Management Landscape and its Implications for Asia.”

According to Mr. Jain, “Fujitsu’s declaration in 2001 that ‘PM is the new economic infrastructure’ captures the basics on which the global PM landscape is being formed. Business by projects is a sheer reality. Boundaries have disappeared. Mind-to-mind connectivity with a click of mouse is a new reality and cannot be managed unless project, program, and portfolio management processes are in place. Processes must be synergized with the human factor and understanding that projects have consciousness too. The basic characteristic of a project is to create value in the future. Those societies and organizations creating future faster than their competitors will have an edge in the market place. A project requires energy as it carves out a path of change from the existing State A of the status quo to the desired new State B as an outcome of the desired change.”

Globally, more projects are being undertaken to fulfill both the social obligations generated from the large number of human beings living below the poverty line and business reasons for better market capitalization. Asia is emerging as the continent where maximum capital inflow and development work will dominate a substantial part of the 21st century. While formal PM systems have their origins in the west, Asian countries and corporations can not only to learn from best practices but be creative while moving to the next level of PM excellence.

Adesh Jain is the first non-European Chairman of the Council of Delegates of International Project Management Association (IPMA) incorporated in Switzerland in 1965. IPMA has over 40 Member Associations. He is Chair of IPMA Nation to Nation Forum. He is the founding Director of the Centre for Excellence in Project Management (CEPM) in 1992 and founding President of Project Management Associates (PMA), New Delhi, India. He is a visionary leader shaping the PM profession globally and a popular and sought-after keynote speaker. Recently, on November 27, 2007, he inaugurated the Project World Europe Conference in Spain. He is also the originator of project thinking conceptual framework. Adesh Jain is also a Global Advisor for PMForum. More information about Adesh can be found at http://www.pmforum.org/ambassadors/ambassadors.htm#Jain.

Mr. Jain’s speech will be one of five keynotes at the Tokyo symposium, which will also feature presentations and papers by project management experts and leaders from around the world. Adesh’s speech will be the first keynote on Tuesday, March 11, at 9:30 a.m.

According to Symposium Project Director Dr. Hiroshi Tanaka, “Mr. Adesh Jain is one of the best speakers in the world on the topic of project management. His concepts on project thinking are very appropriate and necessary for Asia now. His participation will bring a lot of added value to our Symposium.”

The March 2008 symposium will celebrate the 10th anniversary of Japan’s foundation of the professional project management society and will demonstrate “project management as new economic infrastructure and a driver for social development and transformation”. The symposium will be conducted on Monday 10th and Tuesday 11th March 2008 at Tower Hall, Funabori, Tokyo, Japan, with delegates expected from 20 or more countries. The sponsoring organization is PMAJ, with full support expected from the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry and The Engineering Advancement Association of Japan, plus other major public organizations.
