Another student researcher in the UK is conducting some primary research through an online questionnaire designed to highlight the reasons for the success and failure of IT projects, and the most appropriate management methodologies to gain success. The researcher is looking for people who have been involved in IT projects within the last 4 years, both successful and failed. The level of participation can range from being the project manager to the end user of the project; this is to identify if different levels of a hierarchy have different views as to what constitutes a failed or successful project.
According to the student researcher, “It would be interesting to see if different people in different locations in the world implement altered versions of standard methods (such as an adapted PRINCE2) which they deem successful; if this is you then participate in this survey, fill in the questionnaire and email the researcher with some details of the methods undertaken.”
The research, after analysis, will hopefully highlight some useful management methodologies for creating a successful IT project, based on size, amount of stakeholders and money to be spent on the project. Anyone who participates in the research is entitled to a copy of the final report that will be available end of May.
