Alexander Tovb becomes International Correspondent for PMForum in Moscow
PMForum is happy to welcome Mr. Alexander Tovb as an International Correspondent in Moscow, Russia. Mr. Tovb is an experienced project management (PM) professional with more than 30 years experience in a variety of organizations and industries, primarily associated with information technology (IT) projects. He is currently a vice president of the Russian Project Management Association SOVNET, for which he has also been a team leader for annual PM conferences and other event and deputy chief editor of Project and Program Management Journal. He is an experienced project director, executive and consultant.

Alexander has the equivalent of a master’s degree in computer control systems engineering from the Moscow Aircraft University. He has taken post-graduate courses in computer science and management at the Moscow National Economic Academy and several other Russian institutions, along with a variety of courses in Austria, Belgium, Russia and the UK. Over the last 15 years, he has completed numerous training courses on various PM applications, methodologies and tools.

His career highlights include the following:

Alexander Tovb is a Certified Project Manager (IPMA Level B01) and an International Project Management Association (IPMA) assessor for professional PM certifications in Russia. He is a member of SOVNET, IPMA and the Moscow Chapter of the Project Management Institute (PMI®). Alexander was elected a Member of the International Project Management Association (IPMA) Award Management Board. He was the chairman of the Organizational Committee for the International Symposiums on Project Management held in St. Petersburg, Russia in May 2005 and Nizhniy Novgorod in February 2007.

Since 2005, Mr. Tovb has been a Deputy Team Leader and project manager on the European Union funded Projects “Land and Property Policy Reform I and II” of the EU-Russia Cooperation Program (TACIS), Moscow, Russia. He also conducts PM consulting services, workshops and seminars on project management. He has published numerous articles on project management in the Russian Chief Information Officer (CIO) magazine and presented papers at professional conferences, seminars and events in Russia, Europe and Asia. He is the co-author, with G. L. Tsipes, of the books “Project Management: Standards, Methods, Experience” (Olimp-Business, Moscow, 2003) and “Project Management in practice of a modern company” (Olimp-Business, Moscow, 2006).

Moscow is the capital and largest city in the Russian Federation and the center for economic, educational, financial, industrial and political activity in the country. It is considered one of the world’s major global cities. With a population of 10.4 million, Moscow is the most populated city in Europe, an international transport hub and a popular tourist destination. With an area of 17,075,400 square kilometers, Russia is the largest country in the world by land mass. With approximately 143 million inhabitants, Russia has the world's eighth largest population. Russia is officially a federation of 21 semi-autonomous republics, 48 oblasts (provinces), 7 krais (territories), 9 autonomous okrugs (autonomous districts), 1 autonomous oblast, and two federal cities (Moscow and St. Petersburg). The country has an annual GDP of approx $1.6 trillion (10th in world), and significant global power and influence due to its nuclear arsenal, natural resources and history. Russia was the dominant constituent of the USSR, which dissolved in 1991. The country has modern industries, a growing economy and a positive trade balance due to its massive oil & gas wealth.
