Project Finance to be featured topic at MegaProjetos 2008 International Symposium in Sao Paulo
Project Finance will be one of the featured topics at the April MegaProjetos 2008 Symposium in Sao Paulo. Two leading Brazilian authorities on project finance, José Virgílio Enei and Alberto Faro, will present key factors related to the financing of major projects. The MegaProjetos 2008 International Seminar and Exhibition will be held at the Frei Caneca Convention Center in Sao Paulo, Brazil during 3-4 April 2008.

José Virgílio Enei (pictured) is a partner of the law firm Machado, Meyer, Sendacz and Opice and holds a master's degree in law from the University of Virginia, and in commercial law from the University of São Paulo. He is the author of the book “Project Finance”, and has been involved in the financing of several large energy plants and the development of the first public-private partnership in Brazil.

Alberto Faro is a project finance expert in the transportation and energy fields, and a post-graduate in commercial law from FGV. Both Mr. Enei and Mr. Faro are lawyers specialized in Project Finance, which deals with the financing and sponsoring of large projects using the projects' future revenues as the main source of payment towards the debt incurred in its development. Project finance is one of the most crucial aspects of any mega project.

A mega-project is a special type of project, generally defined as a very large enterprise that requires an investment of over a billion dollars. These projects attract a high level of public attention and political interest due to their strong direct and indirect impact on the community, on the environment and on public and private budgets. More mega projects are being developed throughout the world in various industries, like aerospace, construction, defense, energy, information technology, infra-structure, oil and gas, transportation and others.

The International Seminar MegaProjetos 2008 will be the first event in Brazil that brings a wide view of key issues that are involved in major projects. Topics of great relevance to the success or failure of such projects such as management, environmental, financial, technological, organizational, communications, and political aspects will be discussed. Case studies of finished and on-going mega projects from Brazil and abroad will be presented and critical factors involved will be analyzed from the perspective of promoters, contractors, financiers, suppliers, managers, and other stakeholders. Anyone with an interest in such issues should plan to attend.

The MegaProjetos 2008 International Seminar & Exhibition will be conducted on April 3rd and 4th, 2008 (Thursday and Friday) at the Frei Caneca Convention Center, Rua Frei Caneca, Sao Paulo, Brazil. The event promoter is Projectlab. For more information, visit www.megaprojetos2008.com.br.
