Reported by Miles Shepherd in the UKThe Association for Project Management (APM) has issued a Call for Papers for the APM 2008 Project Management Conference, scheduled for 29-30 October 2008. The 2008 conference will be held once again at the historic Brewery Conference Centre in London. Deadline for presentation proposals is 27 June 2008.
(Photo: London from the Thames) The conference panel invites executives, project managers and project management professionals to take part in developing the national and international project management agenda by contributing a presentation to the conference. This will be an interactive forum bringing together project management professionals and decision makers across the public and private sectors
The APM Project Management Conference Panel are looking for contributors with a story to tell or view to express; contributions should focus on practical rather than technical issues, looking at how to maximise the benefits of project management and avoid the potential pitfalls. Topic areas include:
- Success through Projects – possible subjects: Managing projects better, organizational project performance, measuring success
- Right Projects! Right People! – possible subjects: selecting projects, managing the portfolio, stopping projects, managing project management capacity
- Stakeholders and Sponsors – possible subjects: being a sponsor, managing your sponsor, managing politics, dealing with stakeholders, communicating success (and failure)
- Managing in a complex world – complex projects, complex project environments
- Local projects, global consequence! – possible subjects: Sustainability, globalization, ethics

Presentation slots at the conference will last around 20 minutes with 10 minutes for questions, answers and debate. If you would like the chance to join the project management debate as a speaker at the APM Project Management Conference, then submit an outline of your presentation to the Conference panel. The outline should be no more than 250 words and submitted in PDF, Word, or Power Point format. Presentation outlines should be submitted by the 27th June 2008 to
conference@apm.org.uk.
