The
6th Annual Best Practice Showcase, an event showcasing best practices in programme and project management, will take place at the QE11 Conference Centre in Westminster, UK on June 24th 2008. Project and programme managers are invited to attend this free learning event.
According to event director
Emma Hilditch, “This year’s event will include several important briefings, a guidance briefing and a methodology briefing. These will be presented by PRINCE2 experts and will be intended to help with implementation aspects. We expect these sessions to be very popular and useful.”
The Briefing sessions at Best Practice Showcase will enable delegates to learn more about the OGC Best Practice Portfolio and how the methods can be applied in their own organisations. There will also be a session to launch The APM Group’s new Programme & Project Sponsorship Qualification and a session which focuses on Agile Project Management. The briefings scheduled at the 2008 Best Practice Showcase will include:
- Guidance Briefing: P3O™ (Portfolio, Programme and Project Office) - new guidance from OGC - Sue Vowler, P3O Lead Author, will discuss the new P30 guidance which is aligned to OGC’s PRINCE2, MSP and M_o_R methodologies. P30 brings together a set of principles, processes and techniques to facilitate effective portfolio, programme and project management through enablement, challenge and support structures. These structures also bridge the gap between the strategy/policy makers and the delivery arm of the organisation.
- Guidance Briefing: The Best Practice Crib Sheet - John Edmonds, Head of Training, pearcemayfield & Patrick Mayfield, Founding Director, pearcemayfield, will explore how the OGC Best Practice Methodologies can help delegates improve their programme, project and risk management capabilities.
- Methodology Briefing: Agile Project Management - Keith Richards, author of ‘Agile Project Management: Running PRINCE2 Projects with DSDM Atern’ will discuss running PRINCE2 projects with DSDM Atern. He will show delegates how to combine the strength of PRINCE2 and DSDM Atern so they complement each other and create a new best of breed framework suitable for all project environments.
- Programme & Project Sponsorship Qualification - The launch of the Programme and Project Sponsorship (PPS) qualification will be hosted by The Home Office, the UK government department responsible for protecting the public from terrorism, crime and anti-social behaviour. The PPS qualification has been developed specifically for Senior Responsible Owners also known as SROs and Sponsors or Executives of programmes and projects. The qualification is based on OGC Best Practice Guidance and combines leadership ability with PPM skills.
The Best Practice Showcase is free to attend for programme, project and risk managers. Delegate registration is via the web site at
