The 4^th SCPM and 1^st IPMA/MedNet Conference on Project Management will be held on the Greek Island of Chios during 29-31 May 2008. The Conference is being organized by the Centre for Construction Innovation, National Technical University of Athens & the Dept. of Financial & Management Engineering, University of the Aegean. The Conference is officially sponsored, among others, by the profPM project (Network of Project Managers in Greece - Sustainable Professional Development), University of the Aegean, BP, Bovis-Lend-Lease, IPMA/MedNet and the 22^nd IPMA World Congress.

According to the conference chair, Professor John-Paris Pantouvakis (pictured), here is the latest news from the conference team:

• Eighty (80) papers have been accepted.


• Around sixty (60) of them will be presented during the conference


• Participants will come from more than 20 countries.


• Organizational support is being provided by PM-Greece, Hellenic-American Union (Centre for Excellence in Project Management) & Homerion Cultural Centre.

The conference will also feature the following for the 1st time:

• A Mediterranean Conference on Project Management in Greece


• Six (6) invited & keynote lecturers from five (5) different countries and three (3) continents


• Workshop on the Greek Project Management standard (ELOT-1429) organized by the Working Commission who have developed it


• Two (2) advanced seminars - one for cerification assessors and one for enhancing productivity through new concepts


• Two (2) scholarly journals will publish special issues + 1 international professional journal (PM World Today) will publish selected articles


• Marketing cooperation with Happy Projects '08, Vienna, May 2008 & 22nd IPMA World Congress, Rome, November 2008.


• Student Dissertation Award among under & post-graduate students of Greek Universities


• ISBN numbered proceedings (978-960-254-677-2) of more than 500 pages to circulate widely in the Mediterranean region and beyond.


• More than fifteen (15) sponsors and supporters ranging from local companies, Associations, Universities, the Greek General Secretariat for Research & Development (Ministry of Development) and various companies (including Atlantis Research S.A. (the Primavera Representative in Greece)) etc

The PM-04 Conference is a joint venture between the Scientific Conferences on Project Management (SCPM) which have been organized in Greece since 2001 and the 1st IPMA / Mediterranean Network (MedNet) Conference. The conference will support the IPMA/MedNet objectives of fostering closer cooperation, business relations and know-how exchange between Mediterranean and neighbouring countries. The theme of the conference is “Project Management Advances, Training & Certification in the Mediterranean”.

Researchers, professionals and firms active in the Mediterranean basin and neighboring countries who want to expand in the area are invited to participate. The conference has been designed with a view to professional careers and will offer a good basis for developing closer cooperation, networking and common initiatives among organizations and people with common interests, cultures and visions. The Network of Project Managers in Greece, PM-Greece, is a professional project management society affiliated with the International Project Management Association (IPMA), the global network of national PM associations.
