THE HON
John Brumby MP, Premier of Victoria, stated that he was pleased to welcome both the 2008 Annual Project Management Australia Conference and the Software and Systems Engineering Process Group Australia Conference to Melbourne, Victoria. Melbourne has established itself as Australia’s events capital. Melbourne is home to many of Australia’s leaders in commerce, industry, research and finance. We also have a well deserved international reputation for hosting world class arts, cultural, sporting and business events.
The theme of the 2008 Project Management Australia Conference is “Delivering Benefits in an increasingly complex world through effective Portfolio, Program and Project Management” and the theme for the Software and Systems Engineering Process Group Australia Conference is “Beyond Development”. The focus on sharing skills and knowledge to prepare organisations in meeting the demands of an increasingly competitive global market place is becoming more important as business and industry seek a competitive edge, and ways to enhance and develop their business practices.
Victoria has worked hard to maintain and enhance its reputation as a centre for excellence. Victoria is leading the way in Australia, establishing innovation clusters, encouraging the innovation debate and preparing our businesses and industries to meet the challenges of a rapidly changing global environment. Once again, it is a pleasure to welcome the two Conferences to Melbourne, and I trust that these events will be a great success.
The Conference will showcase the impact of creating change to deliver improvements to infrastructure, products and organizations; optimizing stakeholder value through the use of scarce resources and realizing benefits by using multinational teams. For more information, visit
