TI Strategy Manager George Consolver confirmed as 2nd Keynote Speaker for UT Dallas Project Management Symposium in August
The University of Texas at Dallas (UT Dallas) has announced that Mr. George Consolver, director of Texas Instruments' Strategy Process, will be the second keynote speaker for the 2nd Annual UT Dallas Project Management Symposium in August. The conference, subtitled "Leveraging Project Management for Business Success!", will be held in the School of Management building on the UT Dallas campus in Richardson, Texas, USA during 18-19 August 2008. Mr. Consolver will speak on Monday morning, August 18, 2008.

As director of TI’s Strategy Process, George Consolver is responsible for integrating principles of strategy, learning, leadership, and teamwork to develop shared understanding among TI leaders on key company issues. The overall goal is building unity and momentum in achieving TI’s Vision and Strategic Direction. These responsibilities are under the direction of TI’s Chairman / President / Chief Executive Officer, and the TI Strategy Leadership Team (SLT).

George’s primary focus is the development of high-quality business strategies that enable TI to increase its differentiation in the marketplace and sustain it over time. Results of the TI Strategy Process include a vision for the company involving the SLT and a cross- functional action team of senior executives from different TI business areas. He has been leading the strategy development process since 1995.

From 1991 to 1994, George was director of Communications and Planning for TI’s Defense Systems & Electronics Group (DSEG). His responsibilities included customer communications, business planning, and new market identification. George was co-leader for the customer satisfaction category of DSEG’s winning 1992 Malcolm Baldrige U.S. National Quality Award. In 1993-94, he led DSEG and other TI leadership teams through strategy processes to craft business unit visions and strategic intents.

George was manager of Strategic Planning & Mission Analysis, and Deputy Strategy Manager for Avionics Systems with responsibility for new business concepts for advanced radar, electro-optic, communications, and digital processing systems, from 1986 to 1991. He was business development and strategy manager for TI’s Communication, Navigation, and Intelligence systems from 1981 to 1986. Previously, he held leadership positions in computer and software development for the Global Positioning System, airborne computers, and distributed processor/memory systems. George joined TI in 1968 after receiving his B.S. from Southwestern Oklahoma State University. George is a member of The Corporate Strategy Board, and serves on the Advisory Board to the Peter Drucker Foundation.

The 2 Day 2nd Annual UT Dallas Project Management Symposium in August will focus on topics important to organizations and industries in North Texas. The Conference will include an Opening Keynote address by UT Dallas President David Daniel, several other keynote presentations during the two days, over 40 professional presentations, three panel discussions, a project management vendors’ exhibition, a Monday evening networking reception, and a closing keynote address. The symposium is being sponsored by the Graduate Program in Project Management at The University of Texas at Dallas (UT Dallas), in cooperation with the Dallas Chapter of the Project Management Institute (PMI®) and PMForum, Inc. Both the PMI Dallas Chapter and UT Dallas are registered education providers with PMI, so all attendees will receive Professional Development Units (PDUs) for PMP recertification.
