Deadline for IPMA Research Awards Applications Arrives on August 1st 2008

The call for applications and nominations for the IPMA Research Awards closes soon. Applications will be accepted until August 1st 2008. IPMA offers two categories, the Research Award and the Young Researcher Award.

The IPMA Research Awards aim to promote excellent research to enhance project management. With these annual awards IPMA recognises recent outstanding contributions to the development of the discipline and profession of project management through professionally conducted research. Researchers may come from academia, other research institu-tions or industry. Researcher may also come from disciplines other than project management, but must contribute to the development of project, program management, project-oriented companies or any element named in the ICB –International Competence Baseline.

The candidates apply with a research project. The research project must have had at least a duration of one year and must be completed, when the application is handed in. Completion of research project may date back to 1. January 2007. If a researcher (or lead researcher of a team) wins an IPMA Research Award, this person may not apply for the IPMA Re¬search Awards the following three years.

The Young Researcher Award is awarded to an individual researcher up to the age of 30 years. The Research Award is awarded to an individual researcher or research team. In each category two prizes are distinguished: Research Award Winner; and Honours for Outstanding Research Contributions. Winners and honours can present their research at the annual IPMA World Congress, where they are honoured. The Winnner in each category also receives 1.000,- Euro prize money to contribute to travel expenses.

Dr. Martina Huemann is an International Correspondent for PMForum in Vienna, Austria. Martina is a member of the faculty of the PROJEKTMANAGEMENT GROUP, Vienna University of Business Administration, Austria and an Adjunct Professor for Project Management at ESC Lille, France. She is a network partner of ROLAND GAREIS CONSULTING, board member of Project Management Austria, and member of the IPMA Research & Development Management Board. Martina holds Magister and Doctoral degrees from Vienna University of Economics and Business Administration.
