PMI Australia Announces its National Conference to be Incorporated into PMOZ 2008 in August

PMI Australia has announced that its National Conference will be incorporated into PMOZ 2008, the major project management conference being managed by PMGlobal. Both organisations have long term commitments to advancing Project Management skills in Australia.

The PMOZ Conference will be held at Sofitel Melbourne on Collins from 18 - 20 August 2008. The conference will co-locate with the 6th Annual Software and Systems Engineering Process Group Australia Conference, providing greater opportunities for networking and high quality presentations targeted to a range of industries.

According to Ken Farnes (pictured), President of the PMI Melbourne Chapter who is enthusiastic about what the conference will offer project managers,"We believe this conference will contribute significantly to the practice, science, and professionalism of Project Management in Australia. PMI encourages active participation in the conference as it features a range of dynamic and exciting presentations that will provide knowledge you can use no matter the area of expertise."

Several high profile keynote speakers will set the tone of the conference, including Iain Fraser, Director-at-Large and Past Chair of PMI. Iain has been director of regional advocacy for the PMI's Asia/Pacific region, and has served for three years on PMI's Global Board of Directors Nominations Committee.He will present his ideas on the future of project management based on his extensive experience.

The conference will focus on the theme ‘Delivering benefits in an increasingly complex world through effective Portfolio, Program and Project Management" and features large trade exhibition of which there are still opportunities available. The conference is also supported by other key leading industry associations including Engineers Australia, the Australian Institute of Management (AIM) and The Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB Australasia), ensuring it is a genuine industry event, supported by industry’s most prominent organisations.

Brenda Treasure, PMP, is an International Correspondent for PMForum and PM World Today in Melbourne, Australia. Brenda is also Director & Professional Services Manager for BHE Services Pty Ltd, currently serving as a Senior Project Manager for Telstra Corporation on a National IT Transformation Project. Brenda has over 15 years of Project Management experience in private organisations, government agencies and in the IT & Telecommunications arena. Very active within the Project Management Institute (PMI®), Brenda has been Professional Development Director & President of the PMI Melbourne Chapter and Communications Director for PMI’s Women in Project Management Specific Interest Group (WiPM SIG).
