Adriaan Bekman announced main speaker at the 23rd IPMA World Congress in Helsinki, Finland

Professor Adriaan Bekman, General Director, IMO, The Netherlands, has been announced as a main speaker at the 23rd IPMA World Congress in Helsinki, Finland. Professor Bekman delivers his presentation Managers and people: Horizontal leadership approach in Seminar 10 Balancing leadership and management in the afternoon of 16.6.2009, the second congress day.

Professor Bekman is the founding father and director of Institute for Man- & Organization development (IMO). He is working as a horizontal leader in family and impulse companies in The Netherlands, Italy, Finland, Germany, Brazil and Russia. Professor Bekman is co-owner of Innotiimi Ltd, a consultancy and training company that is rooted in Finland and has offices in Norway, Sweden and France. He is also the President of Motiva in Italy. Professor Bekman is professor at the Stenden University, and lectures at SIOO and de Baak. He has written many books and various articles on issues like Organization Development, Consulting, Self management, Community building in Organizations, Taking Initiatives, Experimenting with innovation in organization.

Professor Bekman studied Sociology, specializing in Business Administration at the Erasmus University in Rotterdam. After military service he worked 8 years for the International Staff of Shell and went on a mission to the Dutch Gas and Oil Company and Shell CuraƧao. Starting in January 1978, Professor Bekman worked 27 years at the NPI Institute for Organization Development. This institute was founded by Bernard Lievegoed and his colleagues.

Professor Bekman finds the 23rd IPMA World Congress in Helsinki, Finland, as an outstanding opportunity to share the observation of a need for a fundamental change in the way the leadership acts in organizations.
