Congress organizers announce: State-of-the-art research seminar at the 23rd IPMA World Congress in Helsinki, Finland
Reported by Jouko Vaskimo in Helsinki

Dr. Kalle Kähkönen, the Chairman of the IPMA World Congress 2009 Scientific Secretariat, has announced a state-of-the-art research seminar will take place at the IPMA World Congress in Helsinki, Finland on June 15... 17 2009.

Concentrating on Human Side of Projects in Modern Business, the research seminar will run throughout the entire congress. The seminar will comprise a research and development oriented stream, addressing new knowledge and insights on human aspects in modern projects. Historically, the foundation of the core content of project management and its structuring is in operations research. Gradually, this structuring has been increasingly equipped with human resource management aspects and skill areas. Whereas skill areas such as time and cost management are well established and well known, there are numerous emerging skill areas regarding human side of projects and their management. The content and role of these "soft" management areas need to be further explored and discussed.

With over 80 research papers from 27 different countries submitted for acceptance to the congress, Dr. Kähkönen has led the final paper evaluation process that has resulted in a full program of research based oral and poster presentations for two congress days. A good share of finally accepted papers, 10 out of 48, made the grade 'excellent', which demonstrates the outstanding value of contribution of these papers. The final program of the paper presentations comprises ten subthemes:
