EVM Seminars to be offered at May EVM World 2009 Project Performance Management Conference in Florida
The PMI College of Performance Management (PMI-CPM) has announced that it will be offering several educational seminars this year at the EVM World 2009 Project Performance Management Conference. The 25th Annual International Earned Value Management (EVM) conference, EVM World 2009 Project Performance Management Conference, will be held at the Naples Grande Resort Hotel in Naples, Florida, USA during 27-29 May 2009.

EVM World 2009 will provide one of the best opportunities in the world this year to learn about project performance management, including EVM. The conference will provide professional education training seminars and workshops, presentations on current topics from practicing professionals, updates from US federal government agencies, access to world leaders in project performance management, networking and the latest in software and consulting services.

Training seminars will be provided as a key element of the Professional Education
Program of PMI-CPM, and will include opportunities to improve basic and intermediate integrated program management knowledge and abilities. Key to the program is a solid foundation in the principles of EVM and EVM data analysis techniques. Data analysis allows management to identify early deviations from plans and take timely and effective corrective action. The integration of performance management, technical metrics and risk management processes are then introduced to the student. A capstone series integrates all of these elements and concludes with a case study demonstrating effective use of EVM. The training program focuses on proven and effective processes that are broadly applicable in both industry and the federal government.

The training program consists of six core areas or tracks, CPM 100 - CPM 600, which are presented at each PMI-CPM conference, and include:

  • CPM 100 Project Management & Special Topics
  • CPM 200 Schedule Management
  • CPM 300 Earned Value Management
  • CPM 400 EV Metrics and Analysis
  • CPM 500 Technical & Risk Management
  • CPM 600 Project Management Integration

Certificates are awarded for successful completion of the individual core course exams, e.g., CPM 200. Testing material is based on training program presentations given at the current and previous conferences. Tests will be held at the conference site after completion of the conference on Friday May, 29th, from 1:30 to 3:45 pm. The testing location will be posted during the conference.

Individuals may continue their progress toward earning the Graduate Training Certificate in EVM by successfully completing testing in each of the six areas (previous tests apply) and by submitting your record of attendance at eight PMI CPM conference symposia presentations or by writing a paper on a PMI-CPM approved integrated project management subject.
