According to Professor Crawford, "In the long run, hiring project managers and assigning them to projects is not enough for project-oriented enterprises. Some assessment of project management competencies, monitoring of performance and support by HR offices is also needed. Also, project managers are often hired by various departments and executives, without consistent attention to competency measures and qualifications. To reduce organizational risks and to improve overall performance, some attention must be directed towards competency standards and assessments."
