Global Expert on Change Management, Professor Roland Gareis, to lead Expert Seminar on 6 June in Vienna

An Expert Seminar on "Change Management and Projects" is being offered on 6 June 2009in Vienna, Austria. The seminar leader will be Professor Roland Gareis, one of the world's leading experts now on the use of projects and project management for organizational change management. Change is everywhere today, and is often critical to an organization's survival or competitive success.

The seminar will explore the definitions of change and change management; types of changes and change processes; design for radical new positioning; design for transformation; projects and programmes in the change process; roles in the changes process; and management of emotions and conflicts during the change process.

This expert seminar is aimed at managers of companies and profit centers, change managers and owners, and programme and project owners and managers. This seminar is not just for project-oriented companies, but for all organizations and executives in various industries where changes are occurring or expected. The leader of this expert seminar will be Roland Gareis (pictured left), PhD, Dkfm, professor and head of the project management department, PROJEKTMANAGEMENT GROUP, at the University of Economics and Business Administration in Vienna, Austria. He is also director of the Professional MBA Program "Project & Process Management" at the university and manager of the research program: Project orientation (international). From 1986 - 2002, Roland was chairman of Project Management Austria, the Austrian professional project management association. He is the former research director for IPMA and has been involved in various project management research and teaching projects for over 20 years. Since 1982, Professor Gareis has also owned and managed ROLAND GAREIS CONSULTING, providing project management services to national and international companies throughout Europe.

According to Roland, "Change management and project management go hand-in-hand, but they are not the same thing. It is important that those who are responsible for planning and managing major changes understand the difference, know how to organize change projects, and can use project and programme management approaches when appropriate."

The happy projects '09 conference will include presentations and discussions on various aspects of Change Management, including: Change Management Approaches; Interventions in the Change Process; Projects & Programmes for the Design of Change Processes; Change in Projects & Programmes; and Individual and Organizational Change Management Competences.
