AIPM signs Memorandum of Understanding on IPMA membership at the 23rd IPMA World Congress in Helsinki

Australian Institute of Project Management (AIPM) and International Project Management Association (IPMA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding on AIPM becoming an IPMA Member Association at the closing plenary of the 23rd IPMA World Congress in Helsinki, Finland. The Memorandum of Understanding stipulates the Discussion Paper of March 2009, created by Dr Young, Mr David Hudson and Mr Ian Baxter, has established a framework for the development of the relationship of the two organizations. AIPM agrees to submit a membership application for the IPMA Council of Delegates September 2009 meeting in Dublin, Ireland. AIPM also agrees to submit an application for an IPMA World Congress to be organized in Australia during the next three years. IPMA welcomes this development as part of the growth of the global project management community.

The Australian Institute of Project Management (AIPM) is the peak body for project management in Australia. Formed in 1976 as the Project Managers' Forum, AIPM has been instrumental in progressing the profession of project management in Australia over the past 32 years.

AIPM role is to improve the knowledge, skills and competence of project team members, project managers and project directors, all of whom play a key role in the achievement of business objectives, not just project objectives. AIPM also aims to ensure that those involved at other levels in an organization and the community understand the key role of project management in today's society.

AIPM vision is to be recognized by business, industry, and government, as the key promoter, developer, and leader in project management professionalism.
