Ed Hoffman delivered keynote presentation at the 23rd IPMA World Congress in Helsinki, Finland

Dr Hoffman's keynote presentation was well received by an audience of over 1000 World Congress participants from 55 countries, including a total of 150 speakers from 27 counties. Interested in topics such as project academies, project based environments, project complexity, project management & project leadership and dimensions of effectiveness, several congress participants considered Dr Hoffman's keynote presentation the best one in the three-day event.

Dr Hoffman, Director of the NASA Academy of Program/Project and Engineering Leadership (APPEL), is responsible for the development of program/project and engineering leaders and teams within NASA. This includes the development and maintenance of a comprehensive program/project management and engineering competency model, training curriculum, consulting services for project management teams, and knowledge sharing strategies. In this capacity, Dr Hoffman works within NASA, as well as externally with leaders of industry, academia, associations, and other government agencies in order to establish priorities and enhance capabilities in program and project management.

Dr Hoffman is an adjunct professor at the George Washington University in the United States. He is a frequently invited speaker at conferences and associations worldwide, has authored numerous articles and presentations on program and project management. He co-authored the books entitled, "Project Management Success Stories: Lessons of Project Leaders" published in 2000 by Wiley, and "Shared Voyage" published in 2005 by National Aeronautics and Space Administration, NASA History Division. Dr Hoffman holds a Doctorate, as well as a Master of Arts and a Master of Science degree from Columbia University in the area of social and organizational psychology. He received a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Brooklyn College in 1981.
