The Project Management Institute, Inc (PMI) has announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with National Institute of Construction Management and Research (NICMAR), a leading educational institute established by the Indian construction industry. The joint collaboration will enable both organizations to explore opportunities to support the development and advancement of project management in education.
National Institute of Construction Management and Research (NICMAR) is a leading educational Institute established by the Indian construction industry. NICMAR is an autonomous, non-government, non-profit academic body, incorporated in India on September 1983 as a 'Society' and a public charitable 'Trust'. It is recognized by Government of India as a Scientific and Industrial Research Organization - SIRO. The Institute is situated at Balewadi, 17 kilometers from the Pune Central Railway Station and seven kilometers from Pune University.
PMI establishes project management as a critical discipline that ensures projects of all kinds can be completed on time and within budget and aligned with the stated strategic objectives of the project. PMI has therefore felt the need to synergize with academia to further project management education. It already has a relationship with a few leading academic institutions in India through the Registered Education Provider program. S. P. Jain Institute of Management and Research and Symbiosis Centre for Information Technology are 2 of the institutes that are a part of this program for several years now and offer trainings in project management.
According to the MoU with NICMAR, both parties will exchange knowledge, information and data that would be beneficial to the project management community and provide opportunities for project management practices and methodologies produced by their respective organizations. This joint collaboration will support project management advocacy and research. In addition it will also support joint seminars besides collaboration for case studies and events. NICMAR & PMI also plan to take this relationship forward by having twin certificate programs and PMI global accreditation of some of the Project Management focused courses of NICMAR.
