Day one Speakers and Topics announced for 3rd Annual UT Dallas Project Management Symposium on 13 August

The final program has been announced for the 3rd Annual UT Dallas Project Management Symposium in August, including all speakers and topics. The regional project management conference, which will be held on The University of Texas at Dallas (UT Dallas) campus in Richardson, Texas during 13-14 August 2009, is being sponsored by the Graduate Program in Project Management (PM) in the School of Management's Executive Education Center at UT Dallas, in partnership with the Dallas Chapter of the Project Management Institute (PMI®) and PMForum. The theme for this year's UT Dallas Project Management Symposium will be "Managing in a Changing World".


The two day symposium will begin on Thursday, 13 August, with the following:
  • James Joiner, Director of the Graduate Program in Project Management at UT Dallas - Welcome and agenda review
  • Hasan Pirkul, PhD, Dean of The UT Dallas School of Management - Welcome
  • Jim Reilly, PhD, NASA Astronaut (retired 2008) - Opening keynote address: From Outer Space to Intellectual Space: Managing Teams for Maximum Performance
  • Tom Leppert, Mayor of the City of Dallas - Second opening keynote speech
The balance of Day One will include 23 professional presentations in the following five tracks: New & Emerging Ideas in Project Management; Project Management in the Current Economy; Program and Project Portfolio Management; Project Management Career Management; and PM Methods / Public Sector Projects. The symposium is organized and hosted by the Graduate Program in Project Management at The UT Dallas, in cooperation with the Dallas Chapter of the Project Management Institute (PMI®) and PMForum, Inc. The Project Management Program at UT Dallas provides application-oriented education for professionals with significant project, program or general management responsibilities.
