Breaking News from around the world of project Management
The International Centre for Complex Project Management (ICCPM) headquartered in Australia has announced the establishment of its annual, AUS$10,000 prize for "the piece of research that best supports the needs identified in ICCPM's Research Agenda". The first prize award is planned for 2010. The announcement was made on 17 June 2009 at the 23rd IPMA World Congress on Project Management in Helsinki, Finland, where ICCPM Chief Executive Officer Stephen Hayes led a stream and panel discussion related to Complex Project Management.

According to Mr. Hayes (pictured at left), "Our mission is to stimulate and coordinate applied research related to best practices in the management of complex programs and projects. This new prize is intended to bring attention to the need for more research in this area, and to stimulate participation by individual researchers and teams around the world".
" This is the first research prize related to complex projects," he added. "With our growing network of participating organizations, ICCPM is in an ideal position to facilitate more headway in the important complex project management research arena."
The International Centre for Complex Project Management (ICCPM) is a not-for-profit organisation working to advance knowledge and practice in the management and delivery of complex projects. ICCPM was formed in 2007 based on an initiative by Australian, UK and US government and defence industry organisations to improve the international community's ability to successfully deliver very complex projects and to manage complexity across all industry and government sectors. ICCPM was formed to provide global leadership to achieve these exciting objectives. Government support has since expanded to include Canada and Singapore, and a growing number of global partners including governments, the Australian Defence Materiel Organisation, BAE Systems, Boeing, Lockheed Martin, Mallesons Stephen Jaques, Raytheon and Thales.

A primary focus of the ICCPM is to work with its partners and the international community to fund, facilitate and conduct applied research that advances knowledge and practice in the management of complex projects. The aim is to share these outcomes with its partners across all industry and government sectors, and with the global community. With support from its partners, the ICCPM has already made a significant contribution to the development and delivery of the world's first Executive Masters in Complex Project Management through the Queensland University of Technology. In addition to research, ICCPM will continue to support the development and delivery of education and training programs aimed at improving global capability to deliver complex projects and for the management of complexity. ICCPM is currently working with QUT to develop a foundations course in CPM for its partners. The Chairman of ICCPM is Simon Henley MBE; the Vice Chairman and CEO is Stephen Hayes MBE.
