The Australian Institute of Project Management (AIPM), the Australian national project management society, will hold its 2009 AIPM National Conference at the Adelaide Convention Centre in Adelaide, Australia during 11-14 October 2009. The Conference Theme this year is
Modernisation in Project Management. AIPM's National Conference offers opportunities each year for project managers and those working in the fields of program and project
management to improve skills, share knowledge and network. The three day program will feature a variety of national and international speakers and a social program allowing delegates, sponsors and exhibitors the opportunity to mix in both a professional and social environment.
This year's AIPM conference will have four sub themes: Flexibility, Risk, Integration and Sustainability. This year AIPM is seeking to bring out healthy skepticism from the modern project manager, and encourage practitioners and academics to put their own practices under the magnifying glass. The modern project manager should tell it as it is. Presentations on the following themes will be offered:
- Flexibility - Flexibility in project management is not taught but today the considerable changes in the economic environment demand flexibility. Is flexibility simply a manifestation of successful risk analysis, preventative actions, and contingency planning?
- Risk - Risk analysis can help drive clarity and identify what may be accepted or transferred. What are the residual risks on programs and project? How is risk managed effectively through the life cycle of the project? Is it really managed or just talked about at the start of a project? How is risk managed in different sectors, particularly where there is a high degree of technical risk?
- Integration - How does the modern project manager integrate his or her project effectively? Is it merely a process, or is there something more? Can these qualities be quantified and amplified to effectively integrate very large projects or programs? For executives and program managers, these are often critical issues.
- Sustainability - Are projects really going to be driven by sustainability, or is sustainability a new fashion accessory for aspiring project managers? What constitutes sustainability? Can transparency, credibility and accountability ever be adequately addressed?
Presentations in these four streams will provide experiences, lessons learned and practical solutions. Don't miss this opportunity to learn, share experiences and advance your project management career. For more information, visit
