2nd Annual PMI Panama Project Management Symposium KICKS OFF

The 2nd Annual PMI Panama Project Management Symposium will be held during March 10-12, 2010, in Panama City, Panama. The Panama Chapter of the Project Management Institute (PMI) will welcome participants from throughout the Americas to this major project management event. Subtitled "Delivering Measurable Results", this 2nd version will be bigger in lectures, seminars and expected attendance.

Conference organizers have announced that CH2MHILL Corporation has become a Platinum Sponsor for the event. CH2MHILL is a global leader in full-service engineering, consulting, construction, and operations, CH2M HILL has the human and technical resources, the international footprint, and the depth of know-how and experience to help clients achieve success in any corner of the world. In August 2008, CH2MHILL won the program manager contract for the Panama Canal Expansion Program. CH2M Hill's primary focus is to help oversee the locks component, which comprises almost 60% of the effort. When completed, the new locks will allow passage of container ships capable of carrying almost 2.5 times that of vessels currently able transit the waterway if loaded to maximum capacity.

The symposium will be bilingual with translation available (Spanish or English). Registration fees are $320, $250 for PMI members, and $120 for students. Attendees can receive up to 8 PDUs for PMP recertification for each day attended. The symposium venue will be the Panama Canal Authority Auditorium and facilities.

In addition to the PMI Panama Chapter, local sponsors include the Panama Canal Authority Participants will also have an opportunity to tour the canal and meet the program manager.
