The
Project Management Association of Canada - Association de
Management de Projet du Canada (PMAC-AMPC) has announced that
Grant

reviews. PMAC-AMPC represents the IPMA (International Project
Management Association) in Canada.

services in many industries, from services to utilities, healthcare,

Grant was one of the original members that started PMAC-APMC. Recently,
he has achieved the Level A status of IPMA 4 Level Certification. is
currently completing his PhD in project management and believes this
will allow him to help PMAC-APMC apply a broader definition of project
success in Canada and internationally to multiple and varied
industries. Grant has an International MBA and is currently treasurer
with PMAC-APMC.
According to Mr. Kerr, "The mission for IMPA
and PMAC-APMC is for their members to succeed, and I hope we are now
providing professionals in Canada with the required knowledge and
qualifications to succeed as well. Becoming a certified project manager
should carry more weight when it also denotes competence."
Others
also named "First Assessors" are
Keith Farndale, Kevin Aguanno, Alex
Jalalian and
Morley Selver. According to the announcement from PMAC,
the appointment of the first assessors is a major step forward for
Canada, PMAC-AMPC and IPMA.
One of the primary missions of the
PMAC-AMPC is to provide independent third party assessments of project,
program and project portfolio management competence for Canadian
professionals. To that end, the organization provides a number of
certification options. The levels of the IPMA certification range from
the lowest, Level D, to the highest, Level A. The 4 level certification
of IPMA not only provides a process where project managers can develop
the skills necessary to lead and manage people but it provides a
meaningful career path for project managers.
Further information on the levels of certification can be viewed at
http://www.pmac-ampc.ca/certification.
In
compliance with IPMA regulations and international standard ISO 17024,
the association operates an independent Certification Body (CB) to
provide for competence (i.e. knowledge and experience) assessments of
its members who are seeking PMAC-provided qualifications. The
day-to-day operation of the CB is completely independent of the PMAC's
Board of Directors. The Director of Certification, a PMAC Board of
Directors position, sits as the head of the CB's Strategic Management
Board (SMB). The current Director of Certification and Chair of the
CB's SMB is
Tamer Atiba.
