PMI Phoenix Chapter Names Pamela Smith President
The PMI Phoenix Chapter, a local link to the Project Management Institute (PMI), the largest and most diverse international organization in the world dedicated to the profession of project management, has announced that Scottsdale resident Pamela Smith has been named Chapter President, effective January 1, 2010.

Other PMI Phoenix Chapter Board of Director officers include Beth Chappel, President-Elect, Jeff Peck, VP of Finance, Greg Stoner, VP of Communications, David Atwood, VP of PMO, Jerel Cain, VP of Membership, Trish Marszalek, VP of Programs, Brad Totten, VP of External Relations, and Missy Civello, VP of Professional Development.

"I am looking forward to working with our leaders to ensure that PMI Phoenix continues to deliver value to our members," Smith (pictured at right) said.

Ms. Smith brings 19 years of leadership experience in business administration, operations management, operations planning, process improvement, and workforce planning. Her project management experience primarily encompasses IT infrastructure and process implementation. Her entrepreneurial drive led her to the creation of a technology consulting company where she served as President/CEO for 10 years.

Pamela said she has a number of personal goals for PMI Phoenix in 2010, including providing better value to members through workshops, programs, networking groups and volunteer opportunities. A proponent of sharing her passion for project management with her members, Smith also wants to focus on communication and leadership. "We'd like to offer every member the opportunity to become better leaders both personally and professionally by providing continuing education and mentoring opportunities," she said. "I'd like to ensure that all leaders have the tools and training required to help bring the best service to our members."

Ms. Smith has a reputation for being a "big picture" strategist, with innovative ideas for creating, implementing and sustaining corporate growth throughout every sector of the organization. Her focus is to grow, strengthen and evolve business, while mastering change. She has served in many leadership and board of director roles including NAWBO, NATS, MTSA, AFPHX, AFMSP, March of Dimes, and small start-up companies. Smith holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Management degree.

In her free time, she enjoys tennis, golf, skiing, culinary arts, foreign language, and travel. Originally from St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada, Smith holds dual citizenship in the USA and Canada.
