Reported by Kushtrim Mehmetaj in Prishtina, Republic of KosovaMinistry
of Energy and Mining has announced four shortlisted consortiums
interested to build the power plant "Kosova e Re". There was an
increased interest from a wide range of companies requesting the
Expressions of Interest to construct "Kosova e Re" power plant and mine
project, it was said at the meeting in Ministry on March 5
th 2010.
The
Kosova e Re Project received Expressions of Interest from 6 consortia,
comprising companies from 10 countries (USA, UK, India, Turkey, Greece
etc). The Pre-Qualification Document allows the Transaction Advisors to
select from applicants the qualified bidders to continue with next
stages of the Project. The quality of the submissions was high,
demonstrating a serious level of interest in the Kosova e Re project.
The
Project Steering Committee (PSC) has decided that 4 out of the 6
applicants have submitted Expressions of Interest that met
Pre-Qualification Criteria, and has therefore short-listed as potential
bidders for the Project.
The four shortlisted consortiums are, as per alphabetical order:
- The Adani Power / PT Adani Global consortium from India and Indonesia
- The AES Electric Ltd / Demir Export A.S. consortium from the USA and Turkey
- The Park Holding submission from Turkey
- The PPC / ContourGlobal LLP consortium from Greece and the UK/USA
The
Transaction Advisors will soon communicate with each of the shortlisted
consortiums to move on with a preliminary discussion on the Project and
to provide the applicants with further details on the anticipated
process and timeline for the next stages of the Project.
"In
April 2010, we will begin the negotiations with these four consortiums.
Sometime in July 2010 we will have all opportunities to choose the
winner after having completed all negotiations making it public
sometime on September 2010. By January 2011 construction of the Power
Plant "Kosova e Re" will begin" said the Minister
Justina Shiroka -
Pula.
Constructing the power plant will cost from € 700
millions to € 1 Billion. It is planned to erect for the beginning 500
MGW and additional 500 at a later stage. The new power plant "Kosova e
Re" will change the power supply configuration in Balkan making Kosova
a future sustainable source of power at a wider regional context not
