IPMA Leaders Arrive in Crete for PM05

The International Project Management Association (IPMA) Executive Board (ExBo) members have been arriving in Crete this week to support the Greek Project Management Association's 5th Scientific Conference on Project Management (SCPM), also known as PM-05. Lead by President Brigitte Schaden of Austria (shown left with Chairman Miles Shepherd), who will be giving the inaugural keynote presentation, remaining ExBo members will present a series of papers and chair parallel sessions. A special workshop on Greek language certification is also scheduled.

This year's theme is Concepts, tools and techniques for managing successful projects. The conference will take place at the prestigious Mövenpick Resort and Thalasso Hotel near Heraklion, in Crete over the period 29 - 31 May. Delegates from 13 countries will join their Greek colleagues to hear around 150 papers being presented. In addition there is a doctoral workshop, a special tutorial on PM certification and an extended

PM-05 begins with an opening ceremony followed by award of IPMA Certificates to qualifying PM Greece members. Following the opening event, Brigitte Schaden will give the inaugural keynote on 'IPMA moving forward', followed by PM Forum's Managing Editor, David Pells, (pictured left) on 'PMForum - the untold story'.

On Monday 31 May, Prof Roland Gareis, the distinguished researcher, will present a keynote entitled 'Designing projects and programmes'. This will be followed by the final keynote given by M Skibniewski covering ERP Systems for project based firms. Other highlights of the Conference include a welcome cocktail on the first night and a Gala Dinner.

IPMA's ExBo will be participating in many of the conference sessions, particularly the tutorial on IPOMA's international activities and PM Greece local activities. IPMA Vice President Alexander Tovb will co-chair a certification session; IPMA Vice President Nino Grau will help lead the IPOMA discussion along with IPMA Vice Presidents Mladen Radujkovic and Roberto Mori. After the conference, ExBo will be holding a full meeting to shape events leading up to the Council of Delegates meeting scheduled for September in Reykjavik, Iceland and the election of a new ExBo.
