University UK, in partnership with the Chartered Institute of Building
(CIOB) is organising the
Third International World of Construction
Project Management (WPCM) Conference. The event will be held during
20-22 October in Coventry, UK. This follows the successful Second
Conference at the University of Delft, Netherlands in 2007 and the
First Conference at Ryerson University, Toronto, Canada in 2004.
The
Conference will provide a forum to disseminate, share, examine and
discuss the findings from both the education sector and from
construction practice. The conference will be held at the award-winning
Coventry
TechnoCentre conference venue (pictured) on Coventry
University Technology Park, situated in the centre of Coventry.
The keynote speakers include:
- Sir John Egan - Presentation: "Rethinking Construction: progress and failings since 12 years ago"
- Professor Stephen Ogunlana (Heriott Watt University, Scotland) -
Presentation: "The challenges and rewards of project management in the
developing world"
- Mr. James Wates (CIOB President)
CIOB is kindly offering two awards for papers presented in the conference:
- CIOB best industry focused paper
- Construction Research and Innovation (CRI) paper
For each award, the winners will receive CIOB engraved medals and £250.
Additionally,
there will be a travel grant for one delegate whose residence is
outside UK. This offer is competitive and priority will be given to
delegate from the developing world. The decision will be made by a
panel of organising committee. If you are interested, please contact

Opportunity to submit academic and
industry-oriented papers and participate in the conference is still

Coventry is
located in the West Midlands, the heart of England, with excellent
road, rail and air links to the rest of the country - central London is
just 60 minutes away by train. Both conference and evening gala dinner
venues are located close to the city centre.
