asapmĀ® Young Crew Elects New President and Introduces the Advisory Board
The American Society for the Advancement of Project Management (asapm®) Young Crew is pleased to announce that Pavan Gorakavi has been elected President for the 2010-2011 year, effective August 1, 2010. He succeeds current President and IPMA Young Crew Management Board member Jhaymee Wilson who brought strategic direction and guided asapm Young Crew efforts since 2008. She will join asapm Young Crew member and 2008 IPMA Young Project Manager Awardee, Edward Logan, in leading the asapm Young Crew Advisory Board which will serve as the primary advisory council to the asapm Young Crew Board of Directors. Ms. Wilson will continue to drive and support asapm Young Crew initiatives in her dual role.

Mr. Gorakavi (pictured) earned his Bachelor's degree in computer science from Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, and holds a Master's Degree in computer science from Lamar University, an M.B.A. from The University of Texas at Dallas and a GMCP from Southern Methodist University. He has written over 25 peer- reviewed articles published in major project management journals, and will bring his energy and enthusiasm to launching asapm Young Crew in the United States.

Over the next several months, Mr. Gorakavi will be responsible for leading efforts to create and implement sound programming that will allow project managers, researchers and new practitioners to network, share knowledge, and learn about cutting edge theories and tools available within the project management industry. Immediate goals and priorities for the asapm Young Crew chapter include:

  • Building a national membership base of early career project managers unrivaled by any other project management organization
  • Connect with and engage our members though a professional website and brand image
  • Collaborate with global Young Crew chapters with signature Young Crew activities such as the creACTivity workshop, Coaching for Development (C4D), and the IPMA Young Project Manager Award
  • Use effective social media and communication strategies to connect with our core audience and enhance the asapm Young Crew brand
  • Provide opportunities for young project managers to publish papers and communicate their voice within the global PM community
