David Mathie named PM Ambassador(TM) in Australia
David Mathie, former IPMA vice president and E&Y partner, joins PM Ambassadors™ Speakers Bureau
DALLAS, TX - February 11, 2008 -- PMForum, Inc. is pleased to announce that David Mathie, former senior partner of E&Y (Italy), former Chair of the Italian Association of Project Management and former vice president of IPMA, has joined the PM AmbassadorsTM Speakers Bureau. Mr. Mathie works and consults from New South Wales, Australia.
According to PMForum president David Pells, “David Mathie is a very senior project executive, with experience on a wide variety of projects in many different locations and cultures. I have known him for many years and deeply respect his expertise and perspective. We are happy and lucky to have him join our speakers’ bureau.”
David Mathie is currently an executive consultant, executive director of QRE P/L, & Monte Christo Properties P/L, and a director of several international companies. Trained in electronics, David held engineering and management positions in industry before turning to management consultancy; he developed his management & consultancy skills across different industrial sectors (aerospace & defense, oil & gas, resorts& hospitality) and cultural environments in many countries (Great Britain, Czech & Slovak Republics, France, Germany, Holland, Italy, Kazakhstan, Russia, USA). Fluent in English and Italian, he also speaks some Dutch, French, German and Russian. He is currently heavily involved in resort development on Curtis Island (Queensland) and in providing management consultancy services to private industry in Europe. David was recruited from Marconi (UK) to Phillips (NL) in 1969. From there he went to Paris in 1971 where he set up a small Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) company contracting to Phillips, HP & Panavia.
In 1972 David was recruited to help the Italian Government develop a systems support organization for the avionics portion of the Tornado (MRCA) program. He subsequently created and grew a consultancy in Italy, which was sold in 1980. From 1976 to 1984 he helped develop the Artemis Project Management Information System, developed the Italian market and assisted in international sales efforts; when Artemis was sold he remained a consultant until early 1987. He grew an Italian-based, boutique international management consultancy practice (Consulenza Project Management - CPM) from 1978 to 1994, which was sold to the Italian practice of Ernst & Whinney in1989. He became a partner in Reconta Ernst & Young (REY) and, in 1993, a senior partner with Ernst & Young (E&Y) Consultants (Italy). David resigned from E&Y and returned to Australia in December 1996.
A member of the International Project Management Association since 1978, he was a founder of the Italian Association of Project Management in 1984; served on the board from 1984 to 1995 and as Chairman from 1987 to 1989; and served on the Board of Associazione Nazionale Impiantistica - Italian National Association of the Engineering & Construction Industry from 1987 to 1995. He was a Vice President of IPMA from 1991 thru 1994. David is a Life Member of the Society of Logistics Engineers (SOLE); Foundation Member of the SOLE Northern Italy Chapter (1976), and listed in Who's Who Italy. He has also been a member of the Project Management Institute in the USA for many years. While living in Italy, he organized Italian and International Congresses, Symposia and Round Table Meetings on PM, MBP, CM, ITE and ‘Doing Business in the former Soviet Union.’
