Bob Owen named International Correspondent for PMForum in Manchester
Senior Research Fellow at Salford University joins global correspondents network to provide project management news from the northwest region of UK

DALLAS, TX - May 02, 2008 -- PMForum, Inc announced today that Bob Owen has been named an International Correspondent for the organization in Manchester, England, UK. PMForum’s global network of international correspondents delivers project management-related news and information from around the world and provides local representation. PMForum operates www.pmforum.org, the world’s first website devoted to professional project management, and produces the popular monthly online e-Journal PM World Today.

According to PMForum Managing Editor David Pells, “Bob Owen is an active project management researcher and project management leader in the northwest England. Currently working at one of the world’s premier research institutions for the built and human environment at the University of Salford, Bob is at the forefront of some leading research into new and adaptive project management methods. We are excited and honored to have him now representing PMForum in northwest England.”

Bob Owen has been involved with project management for more than 30 years. Most of these projects have been in the defence sector and many have been large or extremely large and international in nature. Bob qualified in electronics in the Royal Air Force before being commissioned as a Pilot (Fast Jet) and then moving into intelligence. He has many years of defence experience, including roles in research, business development, project management and consultancy.

Mr. Owen gained an MSc (Distinction) in Information Systems in 2004 and went on to study advanced project management for his PhD before being appointed (January 2008) Senior Research Fellow in the Salford Centre for Research & Innovation, the core of the UK’s most prestigious (6 Star) Research Institute for the Built & Human Environment. His research concentrates on the implementation of lean and agile project management in non-traditional sectors; he has published and presented widely. He has organised several conferences and is a popular speaker. Bob is on the Northwest Committee of the Association for Project Management (APM) as Higher Education Institutes representative, and on the national KD2 – Knowledge, Development and Dissemination working group. Bob Owen is based near Manchester, England in the UK.
