PM Templates

"Templates are the future of project management! Policies and procedures are no longer good project management methodologies. Templates, Forms and Checklists are the way to go" ....IIL Webinar - Strategic Planning for Project Management : Dr Harold Kerner

More and more project managers and their organizations discover that having a toolkit of "best practice" project management deliverable templates and examples is likely to expedite and help their projects be successful.

You are invited to join PM Toolkit, a forum set up with the objective of sharing and collaborating on the development of project management deliverable templates, examples and tools. Program Management Community of Practice

A major problem in the defense acquisition workforce today is having a decreasing number of people doing more work with fewer resources. Now there is an online community geared toward leveraging program management expertise within that workforce. The Program Management Community of Practice (PM CoP) is a community-based information and knowledge-sharing website developed by the Department of the Navy (DON), with participation from the Defense Acquisition University (DAU).

The goal of PM CoP is threefold:

  1. To help acquisition workers with problems and tasks today,
  2. To provide a rich resource base for acquisition workers tomorrow (who will be hit by 50% attrition rates), and
  3. To change the overall acquisition workforce culture from one of information hoarding to information sharing.

PM CoP is comprised of government and industry acquisition workers from all three services who are involved with program management-related disciplines. The online site is geared to help community members find information that is linked in a quick and easy-to-use structure. Program Managers and their teams can work in specific communities within PM CoP to find and share policies, regulations, guidance, examples, templates, lessons learned, and other relevant documentation. One of the greatest benefits that PM CoP offers to acquisition workforce members is the ability to connect with experts and colleagues within their discipline.

PM CoP is currently cultivating four knowledge-sharing communities: Contract Management, Risk Management, Systems Engineering, and Total Ownership Cost. Through both online and offline means this community focuses on improving performance, increasing productivity, and fostering knowledge sharing within the acquisition workforce. Although our content, resources, and topic-specific discussions exist online, much of the member-interaction occurs offline on a one-on-one basis or at facilitated community meetings.

The PM CoP site can be found at http://pmcop.ar.navy.mil. Join the community by creating your personal login name and password through an easy registration process. Once validated, members are able to take full advantage of the knowledge sharing capabilities offered.
