" An old force with new power is rising in business, one that has far reaching implications for most everyone. Nascent for half a century, this force has quietly gained momentum through the last decade; it is now triggering profound changes across the corporate world. Firms that embrace this force and harness its power will thrive. Those who ignore or oppose it will suffer. ... The force is transparency."

Jerry Porras, in his book Stream Analysis, says that organizations consist of four major "streams" of information flow that affect how people do their day-to-day work:

The Social Life of Paper Looking for Method in the Mess

Donna Fitzgerald Comments...

"One topic that often doesn’t get a lot of attention is personal productivity. I’m sure that I’ve single handedly kept the PIM software market in business for years. I know that the goal is a clean desk and paper filed neatly in the drawer but it never seems to happen. Based on this I was delighted to read the article. Paper is a good thing and we keep using it because it works. I still need to find the top of my desk but it was nice to know I’m not alone ? with the stacks of paper."

ContextSensitiveProjectManagement (CSPM)

A Yahoo Discussion Group

Mandate of the CSPM Discussion Group

"The most appropriate approach to managing a specific project is one that is sensitive to both the project (including its participants and intended product) and the context within which the project is to be undertaken.

The number of approaches to project management from which we can choose is growing. They range from the "traditional" command-and-control model through a growing number that are embedded within specific software development methodologies (e.g., Scrum, XP).

We are lacking, however, a taxonomy of contexts into which these approaches can be mapped and their applicability understood and/or likelihood of success predicted.

CSPM provides a forum for the discussion of both PM practices and project contexts with the goal of developing an improved understanding of what practices are likely to produce what results in what contexts."

The group's goal is well stated in the last sentence of the group description as:
