pmforum.org announces today a new feature focused on the Global Project Management Forum (GPMF), a
periodic meeting of the leaders of the world's leading project management
professional associations and societies. The new GPMF website will
eventually contain a record of each GPMF including the agendas, countries
and associations represented, and "country reports", papers and presentations
describing the status of project management in each country represented at
the Forum.
The first Global Project Management Forum was hosted by the Project Management Institute (PMI) in New Orleans, Louisiana, USA in 1995. There have now been a total of 15 GPMF's held in various countries around the world and hosted by leading project management professional associations. The most recent GPMF (no. 15) was hosted by Project Management Associates (PMA) in New Delhi, India in November 2005. 72 delegates representing 20 countries attended the event in New Delhi, where 11 country reports were presented.
"We are very pleased to host this material", said pmforum.org Managing
Editor Hugh Woodward. "The GPMF clearly played an important role in the globalization
of project management during the decade 1995 to 2005, and the documents on
the new website represent important historical artifacts."
The site already houses a full record of GPMF's 7, 8 and 15, which were held
in Long Beach, Philadelphia and New Delhi, respectively, and partial records of three others. The remaining sections will be populated as the documents are made available.
