The International Project Management Association (IPMA) Council of Delegates voted to admit three new organizations at its March meeting bringing the total to 42. The three new organizations, representing Greece, Iran and Zambia, respectively, are:
In the IPMA structure, individuals are represented by national organizations which are called Member Associations. IPMA normally recognizes only one national association for each country. Individuals may join IPMA directly only if they reside in a country with no recognized Member Association.
IPMA now represents 42 Member Associations throughout the world, with three in Africa, nine in Asia, one each in North and South America, and 28 in Europe.
According to AIPM Vice President for Membership Veikko Välilä from Finland:
the '"surging interest in applications for membership of IPMA continues unabated." He
is preparing the groundwork for other associations to join at the next Council
of Delegates meeting in Zagreb, Croatia in September 2006.
