A record audience of almost 500 people crowded into the Best Western Sterling Inn in Sterling Heights, Michigan, USA yesterday for the PMI Great Lakes Chapter's 5th annual Spring Symposium. And they were not disappointed. The organizers had clearly embraced the Symposium theme, "Journey from Maturity to Perfection", in their planning.
After a brief introduction by Chapter President Suketu Nagrecha, keynote speaker, Jim Canterucci, founder of Transition Management Advisors and author of "Personal Brilliance: Mastering the Everyday Habits that Create a Lifetime of Success", urged the participants to cultivate the habit of innovation every day. Canterucci argued that personal brilliance is the key to making our lives less chaotic.
The remainder of the day featured 16 presentations in four tracks featuring such speakers as Lee Lambert, CEO of the Lambert Consulting Group; Susan de la Vergne, former IT Director at PacifiCorp in Portland, Oregon; Tom Keuten, Project Manager for PMI's OPM3 Update Team; and pmforum.org Managing Editor Hugh Woodward. With topics like "Saying Yes, When You Really Mean NO", "Navigating the Political Climate - 2 Case Studies to Explore" and "Voice-Your Choice: Success Strategies For Communication Mastery", it was not easy to select just four presentations.
Ravi Panuganti, PMI Great Lakes Chapter's Director of Symposium Programs, was clearly delighted: "We are extremely pleased with the attendance, with the quality of the speakers, and with the excellent feedback from speakers, sponsors, and participants."
