During the meeting in Quebec, progress was made on defining how the IPMEU will take in associate members, and objectives for the next year. In 2007, IPMEU representatives will meet in Lancaster England.

Also during the meeting in Quebec, Mr. James Joiner, Director of the MBA program in Project Management at the University of Texas at Dallas, USA, was elected to serve as Rotational Chair for the next year.
Rotational Chairs serve one year and Mr. Joiner's term will run from August 31, 2006 until the end of the last day of the Lancaster England meeting. An International Project & Program Management Workshop (IPPMW) is conducted each year by the Graduate School of Management at Ecole Supérieure de Commerce de Lille in Lille, France (ESC Lille). Jointly sponsored by ESC Lille and the University of Technology Sydney (UTS), the annual IPPMW at Lille brings together leading professors and doctoral students for three days of interactive discussion and exchange related to project management.

The 6th IPPMW was recently concluded on 25 August 2006 with great success. In addition to presentations of the latest research in project and program management, this year's workshop included a session on "ideas for future research". The results are now being made available for the first time to the international project management community at http://elearning.esc-lille.fr/ISGI0760.
The theme of the 2006 IPPMW at Lille was "Project Strategy and Governance: Key Perspectives." For the first time the 2006 workshop featured two tracks: a 5 days PM Best Practice track and a 3 days PM Research track, as follows.
Attendance at the IPPMW is "by invitation only" for research students currently enrolled at either ESC Lille or the University of Technology, Sydney; their Supervisors; Adjunct and Visiting Professors and Fellows of ESC Lille and UTS; and researcher friends and colleagues of these programs. The format focuses on interactive discussion and exchange.
During the IPPMW, academic research, doctoral research, applied research, practical papers, and/or case studies are presented by teams or individuals. The presentation times are either one and half (1.5) or three (3) hours.
The 7th IPPMW is now scheduled for ESC Lille during August 20 to 24, 2007, during which two tracks will again be included: one research seminar and one "best practices" workshop.
Founded in 1892, ESC Lille (Lille School of Management - www.esc-lille.com) is one of the oldest business schools in France, with campuses in Lille and Paris. It is also the first institution outside North America to receive GACPM accreditation by the Project Management Institute (PMI®). The project management program at ESC Lille was inaugurated in 1979. ESC Lille offers postgraduate programs in project management: two masters in project & program management (one taught in English, the other in French); a MBA in Strategy, Program & Project Management (English); and a PhD in Strategy, Program & Project Management (English). ESC Lille research activities in project & program management are grouped together into the International Centre for Project Management and Analysis (CIMAP).
