Interview with Jose-Luis Bretones-Lopez

Introduction
following interview was conducted by pmforum.org (PMF) with Mr. Jose-Luis Bretones-Lopez during August 2006. Mr. Bretones-Lopez has been responsible for the roll out of program and project management for McDonald’s Corporation across operations and branches in 34 countries over the last three years. This interview came about following an exchange of emails in early August. Mr. Bretones-Lopez is interested in connecting with others who may have similar responsibilities and challenges that he has faced with such a global rollout of PM. In order to set the context, the original email exchanges between Mr. Bretones-Lopez and PMF are described below, followed immediately by the interview.

“Your letters and communications have been extremely valuable and helpful during the past three years as I was chartered with deploying the P&PM discipline across all 34 countries in our Asia Pacific Middle East and Africa region. Creating awareness, convincing leadership and deploying the basics is one thing, maintaining and elevating the sophistication is another. As I transfer accountability to local leads I am interested in networking with other individuals facing similar challenges to mine. Do you know anybody?”
PMF Response:
"Dear Jose-Luis Bretones-Lopez, Thank you for your email. I might refer you to several associates in Asia, Asia Pacific, Africa or the Middle East, but would need to know more about your activities. On the other hand, I have another idea. We can publish an interview with you in the next issue of PM World Today, in which some of your questions can be posed, some background information provided, and your email address included for others dealing with similar matters. It would be a cross between a case study and a personal story, and I think quite interesting. Please let me know if this sounds interesting. Thank you for your personal comments, and I hope to hear from you again soon.”
