PM World Today Seeks Papers

Beginning with the August issue of PM World Today the online monthly publication of PMForum.org, the monthly project management on-line pubication is now published at the beginning of each month. According to managing editor, David Pells, "we want the perspective to be more forward looking. We will focus on publishing timely news, papers and articles that can be useful for future application, and that can contribute to the future projects and careers of our readers."

According to Mr. Pells, "we are especially interested in publishing good student papers. We want to encourage young people who are studying project management at either the graduate or undergraduate level to publish their research papers as a way to jump start their professional careers. Both professors and future employers might like to see such initiative, and it can be good publicity for the students, professors and universities represented."

Note that publication in PM World Today can also provide authors with professional development units (PDUs) for Project Management Professional (PMP) recertification. Project Management World Today, or PM World Today, is the monthly online professional publication of www.pmforum.org. Each issue contains an editorial, case studies, viewpoints by leading professional leaders, featured technical papers, student papers, tips & techniques, event listings, and a summary of recent news related to PM Research, PM Education, the PM Profession, the PM Community, the PM Supplier Marketplace, and Projects and Programs in the real world of government, industry and society. Call for Papers – PM & IT Track of IRMA Conference in
Vancouver; Deadline for Abstracts is October 4

The Information Resources Management Association (IRMA) will hold their 2007 International Conference in Vancouver, British Colombia, Canada during May 13-27, 2007. A major track of the conference will be on the topic of Project Management (PM) and Information Technology (IT). A Call for Papers has been issued, with abstracts due by October 4, 2006. Paper submissions are due 10 January 2007.

The conference will be held at the Sheraton Vancouver Wall Centre Hotel. Papers are invited from academia and industry in the critical skill area of project management. Directors of the PM & IT track encourage submissions of quality papers and panel and workshop proposals, under the following topics:

Vancouver is a dynamic, multicultural city set in a spectacular natural environment. Voted the "Best City in the Americas" for 2004 and 2005 by Conde' Nest Traveler Magazine, Vancouver offers visitors a wide range of activities and scenes, and a very cosmopolitan citizenry. It is definitely a beautiful and fun city to visit.

The Information Resources Management Association (IRMA) is an international professional organization dedicated to advancing the concepts and practices of information resources management in modern organizations. Call for Papers for 2007 AACE Conference in Nashville Ends October 10, 2006

The American Association of Cost Engineers (AACE) is inviting paper submissions for AACE’s 51st annual conference in Nashville, Tennessee, USA, to be held during 15-18 July, 2007.  Conference tracks will include: Owner Issues, Adverse Conditions, Earned Value Management, and Total Cost Management. 

This can be an excellent opportunity to network with peers, earn CEUs/PDHs, and attend the latest papers on cost and schedule control and project management. Plan to attend AACE's 51st Annual Meeting in Nashville, Tennessee, U.S.A.

The deadline for submitting abstracts is October 10, 2006.

A brief abstract of no more than 150 words must be submitted on a standard form, with the abstract addressing the major aspects of the paper, including the following:

AACE is also offering the option to have papers professionally refereed. Refereed submittals are subject to approval by the technical program committee, and a peer review by a minimum of three experts in the field, prior to publication in the 2007 AACE International Transactions. Call for Papers - IPMA/SOVNET Project Management Congress
in Russia (14-18 February, 2007)

The Russian Project Management Association SOVNET and the International Project Management Association (IPMA), with the support and assistance of a number of international and national public and professional organizations, companies and institutions, are proud to announce the International Symposium "Project Management: State, Society, Business" to be held in Niznyi Novgorod, Russia during February 14 - 18 2007. The subheading of the conference is "Competent Project Management - Key Factor of Efficacy, Development and Prosperity."

Project management professionals, experts and leaders from around the world are invited to present proposals for paper presentations to the conference organizers through October 20.

The International Symposium «Project Management: State, Society, Business» to be held in Niznyi Novgorod, Russia, February 14 - 18 2007 will be special due to the following:

Nizhny Novgorod is the fourth largest city of Russia, ranking after Moscow, St. Petersburg, and Novosibirsk. Population: 1.3 million. It is the economic and cultural center of the vast Volga-Vyatka economic region, and also the administrative center of Nizhny Novgorod Oblast and Volga Federal District. Deadline for submitting abstracts is October 20, 2006. Notification of acceptance will be before October 30, 2006. Deadline for submitting full papers is Dec. 15, 2006.
