NAICS Business Classification System

In addition to the two project management practices PMFORUM classification systems of Generally Accepted Project Management Practices (GAPMP) and Areas of Project Management Application (APMA) the NAICS will also be used to classify on line PM resources.

NAICS is a unique system for classifying business establishments. It is an economic classification system constructed based on a single economic concept. Economic units that use like processes to produce goods or services are grouped together. This "production-oriented" system means that statistical agencies will produce data that can be used for measuring productivity, unit labor costs, and the capital intensity of production; constructing input-output relationships; and estimating employment-output relationships and other such statistics that require that inputs and outputs be used together.

Continued use of this additional PM web resource classification system will allow a search by NAICS and a site search engine listing by this classification system. For more on NAICS go to www.census.gov/epcd/www/naics.html

Table 2 has the top level industry sector titles of the NAICS. These can be used as additional identity tags for PMFORUM and remote PM web resources.
